UTTC recently installed the Blackboard Sync Building Block on its installation of Blackboard. Blackboard Sync allows users to receive notifications of changes and updates to their Blackboard courses and organizations on Facebook and the Apple iPhone or iPod Touch. Users can download the Blackboard Learn application from the Facebook Application Directory or from the Apple iTunes App Store.
For more information, please visit the Blackboard Sync wiki or peruse the FAQs below.
What is Blackboard Learn for Facebook and iPhone/iPod Touch?
Blackboard Learn is an application that lets users receive notifications of changes and updates to their Blackboard courses and organizations in Facebook, or in their Apple iPhone or iPod Touch mobile device. These notifications include updates on new Assignments, Course Content, Study Group updates, Community Discussions, even Grades. Users can download the Blackboard Learn application from the Facebook Application Directory or from the Apple iTunes App Store.
How do the Privacy Options settings in Blackboard affect my personal information in Blackboard Learn for Facebook and iPhone/iPod Touch?
The Blackboard Privacy Options settings control where your personal information, such as your email address, is visible to other users in Blackboard.
PLEASE NOTE: If you enable your email address in the Blackboard Privacy Options, it will appear in the following places:
1. On the course roster in Blackboard, if it is made available to students in the course
2. On the Blackboard Learn application for iPhone/iPod Touch roster, for users who have the application installed on their device
3. On the Blackboard Learn application for Facebook roster, for users who have added the application to their Facebook account.
These settings DO NOT control how your personal information is used or who can access it from within any systems or tools that are integrated with Blackboard. If you use the Blackboard Learn application for Facebook, please note that the privacy settings for your account are not overridden, and access to your profile will still be controlled by the settings in Facebook. Review the personal information options or privacy statements for those systems or tools.
